In Support Of Cloning Body Parts
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. People may be living longer these days; however, that has not stopped the scientific community from pursuing other avenues of extended life. The concept of body part cloning has a tremendous potential of sustaining life where it otherwise would not have existed, particularly in the form of cell regrowth and organ transplant. Indeed, to think that mankind would ever have the ability to create a heart or liver from the point of origin can be labeled as purely science fiction, yet contemporary medicine is demonstrating how this monumental feat not only exists today but is also going to benefit all of humanity. Is Facial Communication Universal?
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page discussion of facial expression. Utilizes the research in the field to explore the question of whether or not certain facial expressions are universal in their meaning, e.g. that they have the same meaning regardless of the cultural context. Contrasts the view that facial expression are solely cultural manifestations and thus vary in meaning according to culture and the view that these expressions are biological in their basis and thus have the same meaning regardless of the cultural context. Concludes that while some expressions are universal in their meaning, facial expression is dependent not only on biology but also on culture and on minute-specific details of an encounter. Is the Shroud of Turin Real?
[ send me this paper ]
An 11 page paper arguing that the Shroud of Turin very well could be the burial cloth of Jesus. Opponents claim that proponents of the shroud being authentic are guilty of "shroudscience" in which they begin with the desired answer and then seek methods to validate that answer; he apparently is unaware that opponents appear to be most guilty of the practice. Several vocal naysayers claim that carbon dating work in 1988 prove the shroud originates in the 14th century, yet they refuse to discuss the shoddy science that produced that conclusion. "Serious and credentialed researchers continue to produce evidence that cannot easily be explained away." The Shroud of Turin looks far more like the burial cloth of Jesus and much less like a medieval hoax. Bibliography lists 11 sources.
